St Edmund's College, Cambridge

The matter of additional student accommodation was further addressed at the turn of the century with the building of the Richard Laws building, named after Dr Richard Laws CBE, FRS, former Master of St Edmund's and formerly Director of the British Antarctic Survey, which was opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh on 2 May 2002.

This building with rooms for fifty students was designed by the architect Mr Barry Brown of the Cambridge firm of Bland, Brown & Cole; the construction was financed by the College with generous support from Trinity College and St John's College.
