The Toby Jackman Newton Trust Research Fellowship

St Edmund’s College invites applications for the Toby Jackman Newton Trust Research Fellowship tenable from 1 October 2018 for 3 years until September 2021. The Research Fellowship is open to candidates who will carry out research in any field within the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences.  Applicants should be of postdoctoral level or expect to attain it by 1 October 2018.

The pensionable stipend is £22,095 (subject to annual increments), which is point 23 on the College salary spine.  The successful candidate would be a Title B Fellow, a voting member of the Governing Body, and would be entitled to certain dining rights.  In addition, they would have an allowance for accommodation in College.

The Toby Jackman Newton Trust Research Fellow would have the full rights of Fellowship within the College.  They would be expected to attend Governing Body meetings, which normally take place once a term and, in due course, they might also be invited to become a member of other College committees.

The Toby Jackman Newton Trust Research Fellow would be expected to pursue full-time research, but also they would be expected to participate in the life of this academic community, for example, mentoring, or participating in research seminars for our graduate students.  They would be welcome to undertake supervisions (small-group teaching) for the College, by arrangement with the Senior Tutor.

International prospective applicants need to be aware that the College is not in a position to pay air-fares for those short-listed for interview in Cambridge. Short listed candidates who are invited for interview should be aware that they will be asked to bring their original qualification certificates and proof of eligibility to work and reside in the UK (passport, UK birth certificate, EU identity card).
