Telephones in rooms
On-site phone connections
NTL has withdrawn the telephone service formerly available in student rooms and analogue telephone services are therefore no longer available on-site.Off-site phone connections
Students living outside of the main site need to investigate available phone options as appropriate to their place of residence, but should be aware that the Centrex CU2 service described below may be available to them if the area they live in is covered by NTL as an alternative to normal residential services. You should call NTL to find out if they can offer the service at your location.
NTL CU2 Service
the Centrex CU2 service, is only available to post-graduate students and staff of the University or College. Calls between CU2 telephones and extensions on the University telephone network (or any other Centrex CU1 or CU2 telephones) are free of charge. Long distance and international calls will be charged at the rate which NTL would charge the University for the same call from a University extension, which can be less than the standard NTL tariff for certain destinations (so CU2 users share in volume discounts that the University earns from NTL).
Applications for Centrex CU2 service require counter-signature by the College as proof of entitlement. For details please contact NTL.
