Making your Donation work for you

Tax Advantages
Making a donation to St Edmund’s is easy and can be tax efficient. Wherever you are in the world, we will work with you to maximize any tax advantages. To take full advantages of tax breaks, we suggest you contact your accountant for exact details. We offer some basic guidelines and useful links:
UK Taxpayer
All taxpayers in the UK can increase the value of their gift by 25% at no cost to them by allowing us to claim gift aid. UK Taxpayers can take advantage of special tax rates when donating straight from their wages or pensions, giving land, property or shares, or leaving a gift in their Will. Please check the HMRC’s easy to follow guide. Higher rate and additional rate taxpayers may even receive considerable tax relief. HMRC offers advice on how to calculate the value of your gift and its cost to you.
US Taxpayer
Making a gift to St Edmund’s from the United States is quickly and tax efficiently done via Cambridge in America (CAm). CAm is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization under the Internal Revenue Code allowing for US donors to qualify for an income tax deduction to the limits allowed by law. Further details can be found here.
Dual US and UK taxpayers
If you are subject to tax in both the UK and the US, you have the opportunity to increase your support to the University of Cambridge and its member Colleges by giving to Cambridge in America (UK) Ltd, a registered charity in the UK, and be simultaneously eligible for tax benefits in both countries. To find out more, visit the Cambridge in America website.
