St Edmund's College has an active music life, and one of the most well equipped music rooms in Cambridge. Here, members of the College's Music Society come to practice their instruments and rehearse with their ensembles. The broad variety of St Edmund's students with different backgrounds are very well reflected in the music played in the College. Genres include everything from jazz piano and heavy metal to flamenco and Chinese folk music. Further, the College has a chapel choir and a newly established secular choir.
From time to time, the CR Committee runs open mic and band nights in the Common Room, where all members of the College who enjoy singing or playing an instrument are invited to participate.
St Edmund's Music Society is a growing society with many visions for the future; it is currently working on establishing both monthly recitals, and instrument, composition and voice workshops, where professional musicians will teach and inspire members of the College to improve their musical skills and explore new musical territory.
