St Edmund's College, Cambridge

The College is very sad to announce that Professor Stephen F Frowen, KSG, Fellow Commoner, died peacefully on 21st December 2007.

Professor Frowen published extensively on monetary economics and banking and was the editor of a number of collective works. In 1993, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit, Germany (COM, Germany), and in 1996 he was honoured with a Papal Knighthood (KSG).

Professor Frowen contributed a great deal to St Edmund's. He was involved with the installation of the UK-Germany Millennium Friendship Garden which was officially opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT OM on 2nd May 2002; the Dietrich Bonhoeffer plaque, which was unveiled by HE Thomas Matussek, the Ambassador of the Germany Federal Republic to the UK on 12th March 2004; and the sculpture by the German artist Georg Pavel, which is situated in the UK-Germany Millennium Friendship Garden, was unveiled by the Chargé d'Affaires from the German Embassy, Mr Hans-Henning Blomeyer-Bartenstein, on 22nd July 2005.
