The Iconography of Early Anglo-Saxon Coinage, by Dr Anna Gannon, Fellow, Tutor and Director of Studies for History of Art at St Edmund's College, was first published in 2003 by Oxford University Press, and is now available as a paperback http://ukcatalogue.oup.com/product/9780199583843.do In his review of this work, the first scholarly art-historical appraisal of Anglo-Saxon coinage from the late 6th to the end of the 8th century, Prof James Campbell of the University of Oxford, states: 'Very few recent books on early Anglo-Saxon history raise more important questions than this one does'. Dr Gannon is currently working on a Sylloge volume of the collection of early Anglo-Saxon coinage in the British Museum and on a series of articles relating to the imagery on the coins.
