Honorary Fellow, Cardinal George Pell appointed head of the Vatican's economic and administrative body

Cardinal George Pell (centre of the photo), Honorary Fellow of St Edmund's College has been named by Pope Francis as the prefect of the new Secretariat for the Economy at the Vatican. Cardinal Pell will take up his new role at the end of March 2014 and will oversee the new body with a council of 15 advisors. The new secretariat represents a new coordination structure for economic and administrative affairs of the Holy See and the Vatican State. The new appointment is expected to result in Cardinal Pell moving to the Vaican from Sydney, Australia where he has served as Archbishop since 2001. For further news of the appointment see
