St Edmund's College, Cambridge

Professor John Loughlin, Fellow and Tutor at St Edmund's College, Cambridge, has been awarded £65,150 by the Plater Trust to carry out a research project which explores the links between the UK Government’s 'Big Society' Programme and Catholic Social Teaching in subsidiarity and decentralization. The Plater Trust is a branch of the Catholic Education Service of England & Wales and the theme of this year’s awards was "the intellectual endeavour of refreshing Catholic social thought in the British context through scholarship and writing linked with policy formation". Professor Loughlin received the award from Archbishop Vincent Nichols at a ceremony in Archbishop’s House, Westminster on 10 March 2011. The research will be carried out at St Edmund's Von Hügel Institute.
