Dr Helen Mason, the Senior Tutor of St Edmund's College has been named as one of the Women of Outstanding Achievement of 2010 in recognition of her inspirational work in communication within Science, Engineering and Technology (SET). The Women of Outstanding Achievement exhibition led by the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET showcases some of the UK's most inspiring women currently working across the SET sectors. The focus is on women who achieve outstanding results within their chosen fields, and the exhibition aims to inspire other women to progress a career within SET. Helen Mason is an Assistant Director of Research in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) at the University of Cambridge and is internationally recognised as a researcher in atomic astrophysics. She has led and contributed towards many successful science communication groups, participated in many outreach projects and given science presentations to audiences at summer music festivals including Glastonbury. Helen currently leads the Sun trek educational outreach project (http://www.suntrek.org) about the Sun and its effect on the Earth.
