St Edmund's College, Cambridge

Dr Simon Mitton has been elected Vice President of the Royal Astronomical Society (founded in 1820) for a two year term. He is taking on the task of revamping their Library, which is ranked second in the UK for the importance of its collections of astronomical books and archives. He also wants to step up his activity in outreach and public lectures. Dr Mitton is the longest serving Fellow on the Governing Body of St Edmund's College, having been elected a Fellow in 1973.
