Those wishing to be members of the College while on sabbatical leave from other universities and colleges should write in the first instance to the Master’s secretary for further information and an application form. Alternatively, it is possible to download the application form and information sheet at the bottom of this page.
Visiting Fellows and Scholars are normally expected to provide evidence that they have arranged either an association with a Fellow of the College, a University Department, or a contact within a Department in the University of Cambridge with whom they will work during their stay and can show that they will be fully funded during their visit. Please note that the College may not accept an application that does not comply with these criteria.
College membership provides Visiting Scholars and Visiting Fellows with a point of intellectual contact in a scholarly and social environment. It also provides access to the many libraries and other facilities of the University, as well as the opportunity to make contact with scholars working in a range of academic disciplines.
Accommodation is limited on the site and is only usually available outside Full Term. Most Visiting Fellows and Scholars live out of College, but are nevertheless able to involve themselves and their spouses in many College activities, including College Guest Nights.
For accommodation outside the College, as well as further information on coming to Cambridge, please visit the University's Newcomers and Visiting Scholars website.
Applications are considered by the Nominations Committee which usually meets once per term who make recommendations to the College Council for appointment or to the College’s Governing Body for election. Applications received in the summer vacation period will be processed at the first available Nominations Committee meeting in the Michaelmas Term. Potential visitors are advised to apply at least one term in advance of their planned visit.
