This e-mailing list is intended for Japanese residents in Cambridge, and all those in Cambridge who are interested in Japan, to get in touch with each other and be informed about activities of Japan related societies.
Currently there are about 230 people on the list. You do not need to be a member of any Japan related society in order to be on the list. This list is run independent from from any society. Subscription is, of course, absolutely free of charge.
If you would like to be on this mailing list, please "subscribe" to the list.
- To subscribe, e-mail: soc-japan-request@lists.cam.ac.uk
with the "Subject" saying "SUBSCRIBE [your e-mail address]".
It will be appreciated if you could include your affiliations (college/ department/ courses) in the main text.
- To get off the list, e-mail: soc-japan-request@lists.cam.ac.uk
with the "Subject" saying "UNSUBSCRIBE [your e-mail address]".
A few notes for subscribers:
- Please use only alpha-numeric (Hankaku-Eisuu) characters in your mail to soc-japan (i.e. write in English) - No Kanji or Kana, as many of us do not have facilities to cope with Japanese mail.
- Please avoid sending file attachments, or messages in HTML (Outlook Express users beware). Click here (Dr Toyofumi Wada, kurume-u), or here (kita no kunikara mailing list) for setup instructions (in Japanese)
- "For sale" messages, especially for Japanese items, are welcome, but
a) if your intention is to sell the items to anybody in the University, I would suggest that you'd make a posting to the local newsgroup
ucam.adverts.forsale .
b) please do not repeat the same advert within a short time period (say, a month)
