My new favourite for 2000. Probably the strongest (best price and best availability) consolidator for KL flights to Japan. Myself and five other friends booked return tickets in summer 2000.
- HIS travel, London (tel 0171 439 3311, fax 439 3113)
- Used to be my favourite in booking tickets to Japan. Booked tickets on KL, NH, AY, BA, SK
These days they seem to have expanded their business, and not all staffs are as clued up as they all used to be.
- Japan Centre travel, London (0800 413215 / 0800 526567)
- another favourite for Japan. Good that they are even open on Sundays and
have an 0800 number for booking.
- Worldwide Journeys (0171 388 6000)
- Booked ticket to Kathmandu on BG. Looks strong for South Asian destinations.
Flexible / They even found out in advance that my connecting flight from DAC and booked me on the flight on the following day, at the last moment (most other passengers had to spend a night in DAC)
- Trailfinders
- booked a ticket to New Orleans (CO 1999), Tokyo (LX, 2002) . Very organised and efficient. The new Cambridge branch located in Waterstone's travel guide section is very nice.
- Benz Travel
- My friend experienced a nasty price change (plus GBP 30) after paying the deposit (flight to ISB on PK).
- STA travel
- Booked tickets to JFK(VS), KUL(BA), and BJL(ZB)
Good for student discount tickets on established carriers. Variety in staff quality - from ones that can find you deals that you never imagined of, to ones that you have to tell where to look for.
Can book on your behalf with charter (eg, ZB) and no-frills airlines (eg UK-buzz). Do not deal with certain carriers (such as SU or BG). Also avalilable are selection of "youth" oriented package tours.
- Campus Travel
- Gone bust
Booked ticket to NRT(SU).
They seem to be less choosy with carriers than STA. (But seems they stopped dealing with SU now) Very competitive prices. Note that on their farefinders webpage you have to type in destination names in German! (not Tokyo, but Tokio)
- Premier Travel (01223 500007)
- Booked ticket to BSL via AMS (UK), to CPH (SK)
Cambridge's "premier" travel agent - Looks like they have good deals for European flights from STN (they used to have the cheapest I can find -
these days Go-fly and Buzz-away can be cheaper...)
- British Airways Travel
- Booked ticket to VIE (BA). BA occasionally puts up those "drop everything!" sale. Otherwise, just as the Airline is - Won't get anything wrong, but nothing particularly interesting.
