Record Academic Achievement in 2016-17

Many congratulations to our hard-working students. 27 students achieved a First this summer, which is a record for St Edmund’s, and a further 63 were awarded a 2:1. Six students achieved a Distinction in the Tripos or Part III and, so far, a further 14 have achieved a Distinction in their MPhil or MMus, with more results to follow.

Particular congratulations to our College and University Prize winners:

College Prizes

Martin Florea has been awarded the Chatterjee Prize for the best performance on the MPhil in Finance by a St Edmund’s College student during 2016-2017. Martin came a close second overall in the entire cohort, with an average of over 75%.

Michael Ang (BA, Mathematics, 2014) has been awarded the Georges Lemaître Prize for Mathematics in recognition of his outstanding performance in Part II of the Mathematical Tripos. Both of these prizes are donor-funded College Prizes. The remainder of the College prizes will be awarded in the Michaelmas term and the full list will be published in The Edition 2017.

University Prizes

Haosheng Feng (BA, Natural Sciences, 2015) has been awarded a BP Prize for his outstanding performance in Part IB Chemistry B in 2017.

Chai Hao Chui (BA, Natural Sciences, 2014) has been awarded the T B Wood Prize for achieving the top mark (82.1%) in Part II Plant Sciences. Last year, Chai Hao won the Frank Smart Prize in Botany.
