Our Funding Priorities

St Edmund’s has historically had a smaller endowment than most other Colleges. This means that more than most we rely on the generosity of our alumni and supporters of the College to help provide a great academic and social experience to our students. In recent years, the College has grown quite dramatically, and despite a tighter financial set of circumstances for Higher Education in the UK. This has only confirmed the important role that the College’s fundraising operations play.

We hope that you will support our mission to preserve the St Edmund's collegiate environment, and support an ever larger community of students. You can find more about making a donation here. However, if you want to discuss our funding priorities in more detail, or have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Development Team (

Thank you for your interest in supporting Eddies.

The Master’s Development Fund

A statement of confidence in our international College’s future

The shared spaces in College such as the Common Room (CR) and the dining hall, are very much the same now, with over 500 students, as they were over fifty years ago when fewer than 100 used them. With the development of Mount Pleasant House as new on-site accommodation, we urgently need to expand our communal facilities.

The Master’s Development Fund has been put to good use by creating a plan for the building of ‘East Court’, which will allow us to provide for a modern ‘Eddies’ experience: the same informal and friendly college setting that past generations have enjoyed, for the students of today. Planning permission has been granted.

The Eddies Fund

Supporting student experience

The College’s life is centred around our students. We want to give every one of them the very best experience of Cambridge and of Eddies that we can. Higher fees and a reduction in public funding make further study difficult for many, but as a College we are committed to attracting the very best students from around the world, regardless of their ability to pay. We want to double down on these commitments, but to do so we need a fund that can adapt to ever-shifting circumstances, with pro-active support from our global community of alumni and supporters.

This is where the Eddies Fund comes in. Money put here can be used to fill in gaps in our bursaries and scholarships as well as create new ones; support students in tough financial circumstances; purchase equipment that allows the CR and the various student societies to continue to make Eddies the great community it is – and much else besides!

Making a regular gift to the Eddies Fund is really straightforward. That being said, we would be more than happy to talk it through with you in greater depth if you wish. Just get in touch!
