Incoming Eddies student awarded Cambridge Trust scholarship!

2018-09-06

Incoming student Mohammed Fadil was this week presented with the Pemanda Monappa Scholarship for study in the University of Cambridge. Fadil will be joining St Edmund’s College this Michaelmas to study for an MPhil in Advanced Chemical Engineering.

Fadil received the award in Chennai, India, in the presence of his whole family, who had travelled 12 hours by night train for the special occasion. Despite never having been to England, Fadil seemed happy and confident at the prospect of coming to Cambridge this year.

The Pemanda Monappa Scholarship is funded by Sonna Belliappa for a Master’s student from the southern states of India to study at the University of Cambridge.

Helen Pennant, the Director of Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust, met Mohammed Fadil in Chennai, India. Speaking at an event to present the Pemanda Monappa Scholarship for study in the University of Cambridge, she said the trust was set up to give financial support to international students, irrespective of their social and economic backgrounds.

We very much look forward to welcoming Mohammed Fadil to St Edmund’s College and congratulate him on his outstanding achievement!
