House Porter
Contract: Permanent, part-time (up to 15 hours per week)
Location: St Edmund’s College
Salary: £13.88 per hour
Hours: We are flexible with working patterns. This can be the same four days each week or three varying days, as long as the schedule aligns with the wider team.
Mid‑week evenings:
Monday: 5pm to 9pm
Tuesday to Friday: 4:30pm to 9pm
Weekends: 4pm to 8pm

About the role
We are looking for a reliable and proactive House Porter to support College events and maintain the upkeep of the site. You will work closely with Facilities, Conference and Events, IT, and other teams to ensure spaces are prepared to a high standard and College operations run smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Set up, clear, and maintain rooms for meetings, events, and conferences
- Support AV setup (e.g., projectors)
- Empty waste and recycling, maintain cleanliness across College areas
- Assist with deliveries, stock movement, and furniture setup
- Carry out minor repairs and report faults
- Keep corridors and public spaces clean and obstruction‑free
- Support the Porters’ Lodge with parking during events
About you
- Experience in a similar role (desirable)
- Able to set up basic AV equipment
- Strong communication and customer‑service skills
- Reliable, adaptable, and proactive
- Able to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
