Are you looking for a part time role that will help you to grow into an accounting role?
As a Finance Administrator you will work alongside the Student Finance Team and Accounts Payable function and provide support to the College Accountant and Management Accountant when required, having a holistic view of the finance function.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Post student receipts and payments under the guidance of the Student Finance Officers
- Prepare credit notes and payments for student accounts (catering credits and room deposits)
- Undertakes some credit control (eg fellows meal/wine) and reporting of debts (graduation process or preparation for awards meetings)
- Point of contact for Council Tax invoices working with Accommodation team to check accuracy
- Supporting the HR function with administrative tasks
Some clerical and administrative work (including collecting of post and limited paper filing) - Assist in the distribution of internal monthly reports
- Ensure that processes are documented and up-to-date, accurately reflecting procedures ensuring tight financial control
- Assist and provide cover for colleagues within the Finance department as required during absences or busy times of the year and always looking for system improvements to ensure best practice in all financial procedures
- Work with colleagues to share best practise and ensure policies are adhered to
- Ensure the upkeep of the College, report any problems as necessary and help to keep the College litter free
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures
Personal Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- The role would suit a new entrant or returner to bookkeeping/financial administration
- Has experience of working with Microsoft products
- Has knowledge or experience of accounting systems
Skills
- Ability to become proficient in in-house computer systems (training will be provided, however the individual will need to be able to quickly and efficiently pick up new systems)
- Works methodically and to a high degree of accuracy and numeracy
- Excellent communications skills both oral and written
- Builds and maintains strong stakeholder relationships, able to adapt working style to work respectfully and co-operatively with a wide range of people from different backgrounds, is politically and diplomatically aware.
- Always understands and maintains confidentiality
- Works well within a small team
- Actively advocates and displays College values – open minded, integrity & inclusivity.
- Organised individual comfortable working to strict deadlines
