Jane Luzio, Senior Member and wife of the former Master, Prof Paul Luzio, has been appointed as Director of Newcomers and Visiting Scholars from 1 October 2015.

She will be responsible for a programme of talks, events, tours and outings for the spouses, partners and families of newly-arrived academics associated with the University, supported by a vibrant enthusiastic group of volunteers.

The NVS offers a warm welcome, a place to meet others who are new to Cambridge and an opportunity to join the smaller groups for discussions, arts and craft work, reading, walking, cookery, singing and children’s activities as well as providing informal English language classes and experiencing traditional Afternoon Teas, throughout the term.

Jane says, “It is an honour and a privilege to be asked to join such an important group within Cambridge University, providing caring support to the families from around the globe. Whether our members are here for a short or longer period, they are always welcome”.
