St Edmund’s flies the flag of Europe

2019-05-03

On Monday 29 April 2019, the College Council of St Edmund’s passed a proposal to fly the European flag on 5 and 9 May which was unanimously supported by the Executive Committee of the Combination Room.

5 May is the Europe Day of the Council of Europe, while 9 May is the Europe Day of the European Union and widely celebrated across member states of the Union. St Edmund’s is a College global in outlook, and among the most diverse of the Cambridge Colleges.

The College has taken the decision to fly the flag to celebrate and show solidarity with its wide community of students, staff, Fellows, and alumni (over 25%) who hail from other European countries.
