On June 29, 2016, St. Edmund’s College hosted the conference dinner for a major international conference on modern cosmology. The meeting, ‘HI 21cm Cosmology’,  was held at the Kavli Institute for Cosmology:

The meeting brought together 60 scientists from around the world to discuss the latest advances in techniques to study the origin of structure in the Universe using the 21cm emission line from neutral Hydrogen. This is an area of intense research across the globe, and promises to be the next major tool in modern cosmology. A dinner at St. Eds was particularly appropriate, given that the father of Big Bang Cosmology, Fr. Georges Lemaitre, is a St. Ed’s. alum.  The dinner was a resounding success, and much appreciated by the Conference attendees.  Two members of the St. Eds community attended the conference and dinner (Professor Richard Hills, Emeritus Fellow and Dr Chris Carilli, visiting Fellow).
