Dr Effrossyni Gkrania-Klotsas
Effrossyni is a clinician scientist, helping to translate basic knowledge to clinical treatments for immune system diseases and infections. She has a background in public health and epidemiology, and interest in medical education when it comes to developing the new cohort of clinical researchers as well as policy development.
Effrossyni is also passionate about informing the public regarding emerging infectious diseases. As an Infectious Diseases consultant she has specific expertise in treating patients with primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, recurrent infections as well as travel related illness and complex HIV.
Qualified in Medicine in Athens, Greece and trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases in Philadelphia and Chicago, USA. Completed Master’s in Public Health in UIC in Chicago, USA. ABIM certified in Infectious Diseases (2004-14) and Internal Medicine (2002-2012 and 2012-2022). Appointed Consultant in Infectious Diseases in September 2005 at Addenbrooke’s NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge, UK. Appointed Clinical Director in Infectious Diseases in October 2008. Completed PhD in Epidemiology in the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit in the University of Cambridge in October 2012. ABIM certified in infectious diseases 2004-24.
