St Edmund’s College is celebrating the achievements of cox Lauren Schneiderman as she leads Cambridge Women’s B crew into one of the most prestigious events in the rowing calendar: the Henley Royal Regatta.

Schneiderman will cox the Cambridge University B boat in the Island Challenge Cup, a highly-competitive cup for student women’s eights.

Chief Women’s Coach Paddy Ryan reflected on the squad’s strong trajectory this year: “At Women’s Eights Head of the River in March, we recorded the fastest and second-fastest student eights, which gave us real confidence and enthusiasm to target Henley this season.” Now, Cambridge enters Henley with two eights in the Island Challenge Cup and a pair in the Hambledon Challenge Cup, which is clear evidence of the ambition and conviction Ryan mentioned.

Ryan also praises the squad’s growth and personal development:

The crews are developing real cohesion and maturity, and we’re excited to test ourselves against the very best crews from across the UK and internationally. It’s a fantastic opportunity, and one we hope will lead to a successful and memorable week.

Schneiderman’s appointment as cox for the B crew is an extraordinary milestone. As the strategist and on‑water leader of the boat, responsible for steering the shell, executing race tactics, motivating the crew, and maintaining the technical rhythm that binds eight athletes into a single moving unit, the cox carries immense responsibility. To step into that role at one of the most well-known and highly-regarded regattas is nothing short of outstanding. At St Edmund’s, we have every confidence she will propel the crew’s growing momentum to new heights.

St Edmund’s wishes Lauren and the entire Cambridge Women’s squad every success as they take on the Island Challenge Cup.
