We warmly welcome applications from visiting postgraduate students who wish to join us during their period of study or research in Cambridge.
As a PhD candidate from Germany undertaking a research stay, my time as a Visiting Student at St Edmund's College, Cambridge was warm and most heartfelt welcome. From the outset, I was received with great kindness and made to feel an integral part of the academic community. During my stay, I wrote two essays: One addressing structural questions of administrative accountability and the balance between hierarchical authority and individual responsibility within the civil service; the other examining issues of corporate governance arising upon the death of a shareholder, with particular regard to internal decision-making and organisational continuity. I greatly appreciated the open, rigorous, and intellectually generous exchange with fellow PhD students, whose commitment to free and thoughtful discussion made this period especially rewarding.
