Travelling to College
By train
Cambridge is well-connected to the rest of the UK and beyond. You can travel to London by train in fifty minutes and to Stansted airport in thirty minutes. If you’re aged between 16 and 25, or 26 and 30, you can also purchase a discount railcard.
By foot
St Edmund’s is around a forty-minute walk from Cambridge train station and is one of the hill colleges. The city is easy to navigate on foot.
By bike or e-scooter
Many students choose to cycle. You’ll see red Voi e-scooters scattered around the city and as a student at the University you can apply for a 20% discount on the cost of rides or monthly passes on Voi e-scooters through the Voi website or app.
By bus
Buses are another way to get around the city, and the University subsidises the Universal bus service, which connects many university sites. There are bus routes from the main railway station to the city centre (U1/U2, A Trumpington – St Ives, Stagecoach 1, 3, and 7) as well as from the 5 park and rides located just outside of Cambridge. The nearest park and ride to the College is the Madingley Road P&R to the west of Cambridge, from where you can take the PR1 bus towards the city centre and disembark at Storey’s Way, which is around 10 minutes’ walk from the College.
By taxi
Taxi ranks are located outside the Cambridge train station and outside the Grand Arcade shopping centre. Uber can also be used to book taxis throughout Cambridge.
Parking at College
If you have accessibility needs that mean you are unable to travel to the College via public transport and/or on foot, we would be happy to arrange a parking bay for you at the College for the required period of time. Unfortunately, we are otherwise unable to offer parking due to limited space.
