A special lunch was held today to celebrate the 100th birthday of Emeritus Fellow Dr Tony Palmer, bringing together Fellows for a memorable and joyful occasion.
On what felt like the first day of spring, guests warmly welcomed Dr Palmer back to College, where he previously served with distinction as a Fellow, Tutor and Senior Tutor. The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on his longstanding connection to the College and his many contributions over the years.
During the celebration, Dr Palmer shared fond memories of his time at Cambridge, recalling both the academic rigour and the vibrant community that shaped his experience. He also offered thoughtful advice to current students, encouraging them to make time to relax alongside their studies.
He noted that studying at the University of Cambridge can be an intense and demanding period, but also one in which some of life’s most enduring friendships are formed.
The event was attended by Fellows and members of the College community, and photographs were taken of Dr Palmer with Jane Luzio and in the Senior Combination Room (SCR) to mark the occasion.
The celebration was a fitting tribute to a remarkable milestone and to Dr Palmer’s enduring legacy within the College.
Please join us in wishing Dr Palmer a very happy 100th birthday.
