Hello,
Welcome to Eddies! My name is An Mei and I am the current CR president, having been elected in February 2025.
The CR is the student body of St Edmund’s College and oversees a whole host of different sectors of student life from parties to sports and societies. We have around 30 student officers dedicated to their respective roles. Not only do we finance all events and student-run societies, but we also bear responsibility for reporting and solving student issues when they arise.

St Edmund’s offers an atmosphere like no other college. Undergraduates, postgraduates, fellows and staff are fully integrated. In other words, you can expect to walk into the CR at any time and strike up a friendly conversation with anyone who happens to be there!
Joining the CR offers a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow Eddie’s members as well as getting the know the staff and inner workings of the college. From CR Treasurer to Ents to Families officers, there is certainly a role to suit any individual.
So far this year, the CR has run a multitude of themed nights and bops, hosted ‘potluck’ evenings, ran board games nights and are starting to refurbish the fitness spaces in college. As well as this, we send out a termly newsletter and hold ‘General meetings’ every few weeks for Eddies students to voice their opinions and questions.
As a first-year undergraduate studying History and Politics, being part of the CR has certainly been a highlight of my time at Cambridge so far. It was my dedication to Eddies and love of the college community that incentivised me to run for the position and that enthusiasm has only grown with time.
Before coming to Cambridge, I had no expectations surrounding my life here. I had taken two gap years; one spent travelling and the other working in Civil Service. I arrived excited to begin my degree and yet unbelievably nervous about the years ahead. However, within a few weeks of being at the college, I knew that it was a place I would learn to call home.
Furthermore, Eddies students are everywhere. I have friends who row, play university-level sport, hold positions at the Cambridge Union, commentate for CamFM, run their own podcasts, lead a society – and that could all be one student! The college and university have so much to offer, and I encourage anyone to take as much advantage of it as possible.
I adore St Edmund’s College and all it encompasses, and I sincerely hope you will too.
An Mei Rawlings
