A home for global talent: living, studying and working together
As a member of ‘Eddies’, the time you spend at College will play a central role in your Cambridge experience.
You’ll socialise with other like-minded mature students, in a friendly and egalitarian environment that feels like ‘home’.
There are many opportunities to get involved in student life. From volunteering in Eddies, the student-run bar, performing in open mic nights to joining one of our many societies.
Or for those seeking a bit of tranquillity, our 10-acres of leafy grounds provide the perfect location for orchard walks, summer BBQs and picnics on the grass. At ‘Eddies’, there’s a home for everyone.
Being at St Edmund’s has taught me a lot of about the power of a ‘can-do’ spirit, as well as about the strength of diversity. With us being a relatively younger Cambridge college, I have seen close up how Eddie’s students organise for one another, and create the communities that they hope to see in college spaces. The energy that each new cohort brings with them, and the lasting impact they hope to have on our college community is really meaningful to witness.
The CR, or ‘Combination Room’, is both the student body and the place in College where we gather. As a group of people, it is your primary community during your time at Cambridge. As a place, it provides an opportunity to relax, read the paper, watch TV, play pool or grab a drink from the College Bar. During the day, Eddies students often stop by for tea or coffee and in the evening to catch up with friends after workshops, supervisions, or lab. Think of it as the living room of the College.
The College offers a range of accommodation types. From the modern and contemporary facilities of Mount Pleasant Halls to the more historic, traditional rooms in the Norfolk Building.
As a mature College, we also welcome students with young families with family-friendly flats available on College grounds.
Our modern facilities include a dining hall, café, bar, library, indoor and outdoor gym, garden room, music and art room.
We have a strong sporting tradition at St. Edmund’s and actively encourage students to participate in some form of physical activity, whether that’s just for fun or for something more.
Many of our students achieve sporting excellence. whether that’s representing the University of Cambridge at national competitions or representing their countries at the Olympics.
The College has a range of sports societies including: rugby, badminton, rowing, cricket, climbing, football, netball, basketball, volleyball, swimming and table tennis.
We’re committed to supporting your wellbeing and academic success and ensure every member of the College is supported appropriately.
