The Cambridge Foundation Year Programme

You’ll study a specially designed multi-disciplinary course. This means that the course covers a variety of subject areas in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

You’ll gain a nationally recognised Certificate of Higher Education and have the option to transition to an undergraduate degree course at Cambridge.

We’re perfectly positioned in the west of the city, just a short walk from the West Cambridge Hub where most of the teaching for the Foundation Year takes place.
We welcome a small number of Foundation Year students each year who become members of our College community, enabling them to enjoy the full Cambridge experience.

• 120 UCAS tariff points.
• No specific subjects are required. The full list of qualifications that we accept within this requirement are listed on the University’s foundation year page.

There are three categories of eligibility:

your individual characteristics,
your household characteristics
your school/college characteristics.

Applicants must meet one or more criteria from at least two of the categories to be eligible. This doesn’t apply to care-experienced applicants, applicants who are refugees or asylum-seekers or applicants from a forced migrant background who are automatically eligible.

Evidence of eligibility is required during the application process and is gathered through the FYSAQ (Foundation Year Supplementary Application Questionnaire).

• Select ‘University of Cambridge’ as an institution.
• Select ‘Open’ for your College.

• Complete the online Foundation Year Supplementary Application Questionnaire (FYSAQ).
• You can express your preference for a College on this form.

If your application is shortlisted you’ll be invited to complete an admissions assessment.

• Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview.
