We are delighted to announce that the Governing Body has appointed Dr Alex Pryce as the College’s new Senior Tutor.

Dr Pryce comes to St Edmund’s after five years as the inaugural Director of the University’s Foundation Year Programme. She holds a DPhil in English Literature from the University of Oxford, where she was previously Head of Outreach Development and Head of Undergraduate Student Recruitment. Dr Pryce has extensive experience teaching and supporting students at both Oxford and Cambridge, with a strong track record in developing inclusive education pathways.

The Master, Professor Chris Young, would like to thank all members of our community – Fellows, staff and students – who were involved in informing this selection.

“Bringing Alex to St Edmund’s from one of the University’s flagship programmes is a coup for the College. She is greatly admired across the wider Cambridge community for her role in attracting, educating and supporting students who have been prevented from realising their potential due to educational disadvantage and disruption. We will be fortunate to benefit from her considerable expertise and experience.”

Of their appointment, Dr Alex Pryce said,

“Everyone I’ve met at St Edmund’s cares deeply about this international and inclusive community. I’m looking forward to joining the College to build on the work done so far to enrich education and welfare for students. Working with colleagues to strengthen these vital pillars is an exciting prospect, and I’m looking forward to helping talented students thrive.”

The College very much looks forward to welcoming Dr Pryce ahead of the 2025 Michaelmas Term. We hope everyone will join us in making Alex feel part of our warm and vibrant community.
