Congratulations to Bye-Fellow Rob Baker who led the Men’s team to victory on Saturday. The Men’s Blue Boat won by 3½ lengths in a fiercely contested race making it their 4th consecutive victory.
Rob has been Chief Coach of the University of Cambridge Boat Club Men’s Team since 2018. Before that he coached the women’s team and was an assistant coach going as far back to 2001.
As Chief Coach he is responsible for running the whole training programme, including guiding the technique and training. Of the win, Rob said:
A win is the biggest relief possible! It brings so much joy to the athletes in the crew and all of our alumni who are still hugely invested in the race, everyone works very hard, training twice a day six days a week all year for this one race, so its everything to us.
Congratulations to Rob and all those who took part in 2026 The Boat Race.
