About Dr Gumber

Siddarth is a Post Doctoral Research Associate at St Edmund’s and a Climate Scientist as British Antarctic Survey (BAS), Cambridge.

He is presently working on the ‘The Big Thaw: gauging the past, present, and future of our mountain water resources’ project, an ambitious project assessing past, present and future changes in global mountain water resources from snow and ice. He is undertaking high-resolution atmospheric modelling work using the MetUM regional climate model (RCM) to address the question: how much snow accumulates in selected key mountain catchments, and how will it change? The crucial task involves optimising the current state-of-the-art Met Office’s Unified Model to get snowfall right over high mountain regions, including the Alps and the Himalayas.
