What a week on the river for St Edmund’s at Lent Bumps, and what a perfect moment to celebrate just after International Women’s Day.
This term we had four crews on the water, with both of our lower boats racing in the Getting-On Race for a place on the Bumps start line. M2 had an unfortunate incident with the bank while making way for a faster crew, but they’re already fired up for Mays campaign.
Meanwhile, W2 made history, successfully getting on and becoming the first St Edmund’s W2 ever to race Lent Bumps. They completed the full course three times with strong row-overs and experienced the highs and lows of bumps racing, now hungry for their first bump in Mays.
M1 had another tough week as sandwich boat, finishing where they started after a frustrating technical row-over halted racing on the final day.
And then… W1 delivered an unforgettable campaign. After winning both Winter Head-to-Head and Pembroke Regatta, they carried that momentum into Bumps.
SECBC President 2025/26, Kathy Begley said:
Rowing home proudly carrying our flag, the support we got going past the Plough from spectators, our other crews, and friends and family was absolutely incredible – another very special moment.
Well done to all.
