My advice to future students would be to make full use of the College’s diverse and supportive community. St Edmund’s is a place where you can meet people with very different experiences and perspectives, and these conversations can be just as valuable as formal academic training.

When I started looking at Cambridge colleges, St Edmund’s immediately stood out. I loved that it was a mature college and very international. That mattered to me as an international student. The atmosphere felt warm, friendly, and genuine. It wasn’t right in the busy city centre, but still close enough to everything. It felt like a hidden gem.

We have a strong sporting tradition, with many students competing at international level, such as Douwe who played a key role in the victorious Cambridge Four at the 2025 World Rowing Championships held in Shanghai.

Our Student Educational Development Awards provide funding for students to pursue unique learning opportunities.
Eleanor used her award to undertake a seven-week clinical placement at Gizo Hospital in the Solomon Islands, gaining first-hand experience of tropical medicine and frontline healthcare in a remote setting.
The only College with its own research institute on site. The Von Hügel Institute is a catholic research institute which offers students an engaging programme of events.

Our campus is situated in the desirable west end of Cambridge. It’s a compact campus, and uniquely positioned with all facilities, such as the library, lecture halls and accommodation, within walking distance from each other.

Best of both worlds location: Situated in a peaceful pocket of Cambridge, we're just a short 10 minute walk away from the city centre and iconic River Cam.
Unlike most other Cambridge colleges, the grass here is very much for use. The extensive area of grounds at St Edmund’s allows for a large variety of outside events to be held for the college community throughout the year which are always unmissable and highly memorable occasions.
Centrally located: We're only a short walk away from the University's key locations, including the University Library, Dolby Centre and Sidgwick site.
Mature student experience: Designed specifically for students aged 21+, with a supportive community that values life experience.
Coming from Nigeria and arriving at Cambridge was a remarkable transition, but the warmth I experienced from the college community helped me feel a sense of belonging.

My experiences at St Edmund’s showed me how powerful inclusive environments can be for fostering global connections. It was easy to connect with people from all over the world, from Peru, India, Kenya, to the United States of America.
