In 1992, Green Templeton College at the University of Oxford entered a “twinning” arrangement with St Edmund’s College, and last week, our students headed across to visit our ‘sister’ college.
Reflecting on the trip, CR External Officer Rishi said:
“Three months of planning later, our swap with our sister college Green Templeton finally happened and it was absolutely worth it! From arranging transport to sorting the itinerary, it all came together perfectly. The amount of love shown to us by Green Templeton College was beyond our wildest expectations. We were taken on tours of the lovely Oxford colleges, met Principal Sir Michael Dixon at the pre-formal reception, and had an amazing formal together. The BOP (party) afterwards was super fun, and everyone came back to Cambridge buzzing. We are already excited to return the hospitality and host members of Green Templeton soon!”
Sports Officer Daniel, who stepped in at the last minute to join the trip, also shared his reflections:
“I had an amazing time during my day at Oxford, I was happy to stand in at the last minute – as one of the ENTS (entertainment) officers was unable to make the swap – so getting everyone to and from Oxford with no lost luggage – or Cambridge students – was probably my biggest achievement. The day really couldn’t have gone better, as our group had an amazing tour around Balliol, St Edmund’s Hall, Keble, and Christ Church. All of them were absolutely stunning – not to mention the ability to sit in the CR of Green Templeton within the Radcliffe Observatory building before our formal dinner. All of it made me really question my loyalties to Cambridge! We cannot wait to return the favour to our cousins from Oxford soon.”
Congratulations to the CR for organising what looked like a fantastic trip. Learn more about the CR at Eddies.
