Programmes Manager

Salary: £25,759 (FTE £48,215)

Location: Cambridge, St Edmund’s College

Contract type: Permanent, Job‑share, 19.5 hours per week (flexibility to work 3,4 or 5 days)

St Edmund’s College is seeking a highly organised and collaborative Programmes Manager (Delivery) to support the planning and delivery of College and Von Hügel Institute (VHI) programmes. Working in a job‑share partnership, as a Programme Manager you will help deliver a diverse portfolio of intellectual, engagement, and operational activities, supported by a small team and reporting to the Director of Programmes & Strategy.

The role sits at the heart of an exciting period of growth, with upcoming programming focused on AI, sustainability, the common good, and pedagogies of hope.

Some evening and occasional weekend work may be required to support events.

Job Responsibilities

Programme Delivery (shared accountability across the job‑share)

  • Oversee cohesive planning, delivery, publicity, and monitoring of College and VHI programmes and projects in line with strategic priorities.
  • Translate programme objectives into deliverable plans.
  • Develop programme timelines and milestones to ensure sustainable, high‑quality delivery.
  • Support the Director of Programmes and Strategy and VHI Director as required.
  • Deputise for the Director where appropriate.

Delivery‑specific Responsibilities

  • Lead operational planning and delivery of activities and events.
  • Oversee budgets, expenditure tracking, and financial administration.
  • Implement consistent communications and publicity approaches in consultation with the College
  • Communications team.
  • Lead programme evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement best practice in programme delivery.
  • Produce high‑quality written materials including reports, briefings, and promotional content.
  • Maintain accurate records, governance documents, and administrative systems.
  • Support governance processes, including preparation of papers.
  • Ensure compliance with College policies including data protection, research ethics, and financial procedures.
  • Lead on risk management and safeguarding considerations within programmes.

Team & Strategy Responsibilities (led by the job‑share partner, with shared collaboration)

  • Manage and develop the VHI and Programmes & Strategy team.
  • Ensure sustainable resourcing and delivery of work across the team.
  • Foster a collaborative, developmental team culture aligned with strategic direction.
  • Support strategic planning and development of College and VHI programming, including visibility, reputation, partnerships, and audience engagement.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Proven success in programme delivery or project management.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Experience working within governance‑focused environments.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a job‑share.
  • High accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Degree‑level education or equivalent experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience in interdisciplinary research settings.
  • Evaluation, communications, or change‑management experience.
  • Interest in Catholic social thought, AI, or sustainability.
