Join us for a very special hybrid event bringing together St Edmund’s alumni from all over the world.

In College and open to online participants wherever you are: the St Edmund’s Alumni Society AGM and a special Alumni edition of Talking Ed’s.

The AGM is your chance to hear news from the College and the Alumni Society, and make your voice heard. Receive updates from the Committee, the Master and Development Director, and submit motions for consideration by the meeting.

If you are interested in presenting something to the AGM please contact William Edwards, Secretary of the Alumni Society.

Talking Ed’s is the successful seminar series run by fellows Dr Parul Bhandari and Dr Fiona Costello, where members of the St Edmund’s College fellowship present their research and methodologies to the wider community.

This special alumni edition of Talking Ed’s will bring two St Edmund’s alumni together to present their work.

Register to attend in-person or online. Online participants will be able to view the meeting and seminar live and participate remotely via video-link or written questions. A recording will also be shared after the event.

Register now.

Meet our Talking Ed’s

Mr Alasdair Love (m. 2017)

Alasdair Love has worked as an official at the House of Lords since September 2018, working on various select committees (Bribery Act 2010, Communications and Digital, Adult Social Care, Artificial Intelligence in Weapon Systems, and Human Rights); as National Parliament Representative to the EU; in the Legislation Office; and currently with the House of Lords Commission. The Commission operates as the executive body for the Lords Administration, providing high-level strategic and political direction. As Secretary to the Commission Alasdair manages the Commission staff, commissions and reviews papers that go to the Commission, and advises on parliamentary procedure.

In 2019 Alasdair went on secondment from the House of Lords to the UCL Policy Impact Unit, based within the Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy, where he advised academics on their engagement with Parliament. Alasdair has also advised on procedure at various interparliamentary assemblies, such as the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Alasdair earned a BA(Hons) in History from the University of Durham, an MPhil in Modern British History from the University of Cambridge (where he was at St Edmund’s), and an LLM in Constitutional Law from Birkbeck College, University of London.

Mr Asif Khan (m. 2008)

Asif is a qualified lawyer with extensive experience in corporate, commercial, and financial regulatory matters. He has worked in private practice and in-house at investment firms in London and Dubai. Asif played an integral role in the transformation of an LSE-listed bank into a leading investment management firm. Having returned to Pakistan in 2022, Asif now serves as the CEO of Kulsum International Hospital.

Prior to starting at St Edmund’s in 2008, Asif was as pre-medical student in the United States. As the eldest son in a Pakistani family, he was expected to follow his father into medicine. While he ultimately chose a different route – into law and then healthcare administration – Asif reflects that in leading a major hospital, he has in some ways come full circle.
